I normally don’t pay attention to the “trending topics” because they make me lose faith in humanity. Today, however, I noticed that #fatpeoplenightmares is trending.
Now, some examples of what people are tweeting:
@jaykingofsoloz #fatpeoplenightmares getting chased by a can of slim fast!
@heathero14 #fatpeoplenightmares they dropped their candy bar
@itstaliaa #fatpeoplenightmares rolling on a pin in the middle of the night, and popping.
So, coming from an actual fat person, let me tell you what my worst nightmare is.
My worst nightmare is being openly mocked and laughed at because of the way I look. My worst nightmare is not being able to adopt children because they fear I will teach them unhealthy eating habits. My worst nightmare is the media telling me the only place for a fat person on television is when they are in a reality show to lose weight. Oh, or when every show has that ONE episode where the cast realizes underneath all of that weight, the resident fatty has a heart.
So, congratulations people of twitter. Maybe I should tweet all of these actual nightmares, but I’m pretty sure I’d just use the hashtag #peoplenightmares. I’m pretty sure my obesity hasn’t officially labeled me non-human yet.
